These changes will be a game changer in how we shop for health insurance. On October 1, 2013, some of these changes will start to roll out, beginning with health insurance exchanges (essentially an organized marketplace from which individuals and small business owners can choose from the health plans available in their area). If you’re a small business owner and aren’t quite sure what all of these changes will mean for you, you’re not alone.
Fortunately earlier this month, the U.S. Small Business Administration introduced a new health insurance tool for small businesses that will help small business owners know more about how the Affordable Care Act will affect their business, new insurance options, health insurance changes, and other relevant resources. There is also a free weekly webinar series that is designed to help small business owners understand how the health care changes will affect them so that they can make informed decisions.
